Garage door noise

Unfortunately, at the moment, we have too much stuff in the garage for a closer inspection of the door's track and stuff. Functionally, it works ok opening and closing. I just noticed recently it makes some noise I didn't really hear before.

Recording I made of the garage door open/close in action: https://soundcloud.com/davidluu/gara...-sound/s-8YQEb

From the sounds, are parts along the track likely out of alignment or worn? Maybe just needs some lubrication or something needs adjusting or replacement?

Re: Garage door noise

Sounds like metal on metal scraping to me.
I'd at least shoot some garage door lub into the rollers.

Re: Garage door noise

Like joecaption mentioned, your door probably needs lubrication. Spray it on the door hinges, the rollers (making sure to get inside by the bearings, and the spring. I just did mine about three days ago and I do it annually. When was the last time it was lubed?

Re: Garage door noise

It has not been lubed since I bought the house, so that's been ~ 5 years. Time to lube up.

Re: Garage door noise

Also, will any garage door lube suffice, or what you guys recommend only? Not as much a fan to have the lube shipped by mail, in case it not shipped well.

Was thinking of checking hardware stores. Only saw the 3-in-1 listed at Ace online, and this one on Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Clopay-S...8043/202794367. Haven't actually gone to the stores yet to see what's in stock.

Re: Garage door noise

I would get any product that is called garage door lube. I went to my local Ace Hardware a few weeks ago and found that they didn't have any in stock. I would have no problem picking either the 3-in-1 brand or the Clopay. Get what is available near you.
