Spray/expanding foam in walls, good idea?

Hello,
I have a house in southern California that was built in 1954, and has no insulation in the exterior walls. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to drill some holes in my walls to spray expanding foam to help with the heat and maybe help sound proof. It's mainly for my the exterior walls in my bedroom which are on the southern facing side of the house. The walls are made of plaster (if that matters). Sorry, if this had already been answered, but every time I tried to do a topic search, it just gave me everything.
Thanks in advance.

You may want to call an insulation contractor in your area---that would be the best place to start.

Special products are used that you might not be able to buy--

One of our contractor members should be able to give you some specifics.-Mike-

I'd be concerned about spray foam damaging the plaster and lath as it expanded, if not the sheathing outside as well.

There are other materials designed for this.

Not a DIY job.
What type siding do you have?
Most often this is done from the outside, not the inside.
