Greetings all. My current situation has me moving into a house that may not have seen an update since 1950 so I may be getting comfortable in this forum.
In an effort to patch together the plumbing enough to take a shower; I noticed puffs of dust emanating from a chunk of insulation under the tub with every bang, clunk, tap, or movement of the pipes. I aborted the project for now in light of the fact that it happened to be the area I was working in and I am hoping for some help determining the chances of whether it is likely to be a source of asbestos fibers or not.
I have attached a couple pictures taken from below, one of the exposed portion and one of the full section, but I fear any markings that may have been on the paper are obliterated. I have not found any pictures online of any asbestos insulation it resembles but I have found pictures of cellulose insulation that does look similar. I have no experience to draw from, though, so I hope others can give a more informed opinion to enable a more accurate assessment of the risk.
