insulating under floor

What I have is an add on to the kitchen a six foot by 12 foot area extending out 6 feet, of the back house,. the person who did this " well I'll keep my thought to my self", He installed about 6 windows very little cold weather type I'm in Michigan !!
the floor I can craw under and see there is no insulation at all The windows face the South. I guess he called it a SUN room haaaa!
I would at least like to staple or apply something under the floor to help from the cold. I can easily craw under the floor and work I have at least 40 " head room
I thought of 2" or 3" foam board or stapling batten insulation
My flooring needs to be reinforced I can see he did not follow code,,,, he has one joist every 6 feet instead of 16 on center The previous owner was a get This " Contractor" wow I can go on and on where do these people get the name contractor ?

What I intend to do is next spring add the right amount of joist.
But until then I need a good idea to get by this winter.
thanks
robert

Need a vapor barrier on the ground first.
How in the world did they think every 6' going to work if plywood for the subfloor is 4' X 8'?
No inspection when you bought the house?
Got some pictures? Just got to see this one.
At about $27.00 a sheet for foam that's going to be an expensive temporary fix.

Insulation under floor

Hi Joe
Next time i'm over to the house I'll shoot a few photos. how thick of a vapor barrier material should I use?
You know, You got me thinking if I measured the underfloor right ? I have three floor joist two ends and a middle. I wish I had taken my time and really studied the flooring better.
I don't think the inspector crawled under the deck to see this area.
Did I tell you the last home owner (( contractor { so called })) he removed his hot tub from the deck. When I was crawling and inspecting under the deck I found a large wire about 8 feet long laying on the ground. lucky for me I had my electrical tester with me, because of all the old unused wires strung here and there, I checked the wire for power, Was I lucky the wire was ,220, live. We had to call an electrician to pull the breaker and disconnect the wire from the panel box $ 80.00 bucks. I can really tell you stories of the things we found in that place, like three, Wires connected with wire nuts, no box shoved under a closet carpeting.
Oh I'm boring you here
Thanks Joe I'll try to be more specific in my measurement with photo's
Through the past year you have been very helpful

thanks
robert
