Insulating HVAC Closet in My Condo - Neighbor Can Hear My Humidifier

I installed a whole house humidifier in my 2nd floor condo. Last night, my neighbor came over and complained that she can hear it in her bedroom ceiling. She is on the 1st floor. It seems that my HVAC closet sits over her bedroom closet. I don't know what to do, and I was hoping there is some way to muffle the sound. Could I possibly insulate the floor with something? Are there any code issues with doing that? Would something like cork help? The subfloor in my condo is gypcrete, which I assume sits over plywood. The humidifier doesn't even seem that loud to begin with, but I guess she notices a new noise. I appreciate any advice or suggestions.

She is not hearing the humidifier, but the vibrations that extend through the substrate and are magnified. You need to decouple the humidifier from the floor. You may want to try a rubber mat or even 2" of XPS blue insulation board. Is if free standing? On rollers?

The humidifier is mounted to my supply duct. It’s an Aprilaire whole house humidifier. It doesn’t touch the ground at all.

Although it may not be DIY friendly, installing a bellows noise dampener below the humidifier in the duct work may help reduce the vibrations.
