Not sure how long this link will be up but here is one local example of what I'm talking about . Not pushing this site just trying to show what you might be able to find local to you that can save you some money .

I, like you, aren't interested in the 50 year deal, I sure won't be around in another 10 years or less.

I did see this one and figured it out, it would cost more than regular insulation by almost double the cost. After reading the article Neal posted, that may be the reason they are selling so much of it used. I didn't know ISO would lose R value over a few years.

Looks like I will just go with bats or metal building insulation.

Question, I see where up north, they use a vapor barrier such as 6 mil poly, is that a good idea, and if it is, do you put in on the outside of the studs/joists or the inside.

For a shop I would just use air tight boxes and fit the sheets tight.

Re: Best Affordable Insulation For Metal Building?

I got a call from the people I am renting to own this building from. They asked did I want insurance on it. I told them I had homeowner's that would cover it. I looked at my contract and discovered that I can not put one screw, nail, shelf, bench, insulation, more ceiling joists, more studs or utilities in that building until it is paid for. They can come and inspect the building at any time and if any mods are made can take the building back.

I have abandoned doing anything to this building as I can't even put a vent in it. I am moving all storage from another metal building we have, that is paid for, and has been for years. I will make that one my shop. Although it is a little smaller, it is much better built. I don't need a ton of space as I plan to do more hand machining than in the past.

I will, Lord willing, insulate this building and it is already vented and it is easier to access than the other one. I will let you know how it is going.

I really do appreciate all of your help.
