Basement walls already furred over plaster/concrete w no insulation

Hi all,

We have plaster over concrete basement walls that now have 2X4 furring over them. We'd like to insulate the walls, but can't get foam board in now that the framing is there. And we don't want to put unbacked fiberglass batts in out of fear that the plaster over concrete walls will sweat and create a mold problem over time. See the attached photo.

Any guidance appreciated...

Thanks!

#1 Those 2X's should not have been in direct contact with the outside walls.
Foam should have been added first then build the wall in front of it.
The way it is now the cold will transfer through the 2 X's and you'll have ghosting on the walls.

What's up with the missing bottom plate and last piece against the wall?

Remove the wood and start over. Repeat as necessary until it is correct.

re furring over plaster over concrete

The existing framing sits about 1/2 inch from the wall, so ghosting is less a concern. And the face plate exists, it is just obscured by furniture in the photo. There are missing studs that will be added.

I'd like to not disassemble the framing, so I'm wondering if paint, primer or another sealant will serve as an adequate vapor barrier. The basement is (knock wood) bone dry.
