Adding more insulation.

My house has the rockwool insulation in the attic. If I threw some fiberglass on top of it with that improve the insulation? Or would it be better to take it out and replace it?

If the rockwool is full up to the tops of the joists I would run fiberglass batts across perpendicular to the joists. If not, I would add some more first and then another layer across. You may need to add baffels in your rafter bays to avoid ice dams. I don't know where you live, so I can't tell you how much insulation that you need. But you can do a quick search and you'll find the required R-Values for attic insulation in your area. If done properly, bringing your attic insulation up to where it should be will give you a noticable differance in your heating and cooling.

How much insulation do you have currently? There is a diminishing long returned when he comes insulation thickness.

The best thing you can do is the air seal the attic floor and make sure that the home is losing its conditioned air to the unconditioned attic.

In the process of addressing those items, be sure to preserve the ventilation pathway as Dave mentioned and then you can either roll out additional fiberglass bats or blow in additional insulation.

Blown in insulation is usually a bit easier to manage and when done properly, provides more uniform coverage.
