2x2 Studding

Hi All
I had posted a tread about putting up a 2nd wall framing in front of a first one only because the one that was currently in my basement were 2x2 studs (galvanized Steel)

I have since possibly decided against building a 2nd wall (exterior side) my question now, what would be a good insulation to place between a 2x2 stud? I have baton right now, but not sure how good it will be. I have felt paper against the concrete wall, then studding over the felt paper.

I have read about XPS Insulation and Spray Foam, my question which would be a better insulator for 2x2 studs as well does the felt paper have to be removed for spray foaming? and can Spray foaming be sprayed directly on concrete wall? (I have some spots without felt paper)

Hopefully this wasn't too confusing

Thanks Everyone

Rob
