For now it will be only cold garden water but I will connect it to hot and cold water in the future coming from the house as the garden water in Rome is not great to shower with

where I live, in Florida, the outside shower is very common
around pools, lakes, beaches, etc.
the number one requirement is is a non-slip surface for safety.
I would say that most of the platforms are made of wood.
when they approach the end of their life span, it is replaced.
of course, any material can be used, as long as it is "barefoot friendly".
bricks, pavers, concrete, etc. loose rocks and cobble stones are not good.
when in a grass area such as yours, I would use some kind
of stepping stones to the area that is not grass.

have you searched the internet ?
if you google "outdoor shower" you will get many, many good ideas.

Re: What would you do to improve my garden shower?

I'm also building one out there right now.

It'll be 8' x8' x 6.5' high when finished, & i'll mount it on a TRAILER FRAME & AXLE. The floor is made out of plastic/ vinyl deck boards, (with a non-slip sand aggregate surface), the framing will be vinyl fence boards & posts, & the walls are sheets of UV resistant 4x8 poly sheeting. The BLACK 55 gal rain barrel will be mounted on top. Gravity feed shower & sink outlets, with a hose fitting on the side for refills,,,, when rain water isn't available.

I can park it way out back, or haul it to any of our 3 day weekend camping parties. Maybe a small hot tub & grill upfront!????

TOTALLY,,,, non-depreciating materials! & I can Clean it with Clorox 'shower scrub' & a mop. ;>)
That 55 gal water barrel will feed the shower, The sink, & the 'emergency' self contained, outdoor JOHNNY.
(I'll need to put a patent on this sucker,,,, for mass production! ;>)

BTW,,, I'm always collecting rain water,,, for my garden, orchard, & just after-job wash-ups.
I use the down spout water for everything. I piped it into old cast iron bath tubs for water troughs for my animals, & into BLACK 55gallon plastic barrels for my garden.
I have WARM water in the spring, to quickly heat up my garden dirt.

For a shower, All you have to do is mount the BLACK barrel up on a tri-pod, so your almost able to stand underneath. Make the shower enclosure as fancy as you want.
I have 'FREE' 80*-120* water,,,, most all spring, summer, fall. (Ohio)
(for that shower water, throw in some chlorine pool tablets every once in a while. ;>)

Do you use natural soap or regular soap for outdoor showers?

Hereís a discussion on outdoor shower drainage. Towards the end of the thread, one poster mentions his sisterís squash benefitting from the shower water.

"Do you use natural soap or regular soap for outdoor showers?"

lol,,, 'DOVE'.

Actually, with the way I built my PORTABLE SHOWER/ 'BATH ROOM', on a trailer, It doesn't matter. i don't re-use that waste water.
I have one of those 20 gallon, portable totes on wheels,,,,, it's the collection tank that is used for campers at primitive campgrounds. I roll the full tote tank over to a septic system & dump it in.

FWIW,,, Shower water & gardens.
I have a friend who is a licensed POND BUILDER. He has a totally primitive, 3/4 under ground 2nd home.

Solar, Cistern,,,,,,, Outhouse w rain water shower.

He built an awesome, 3 pond terraced, Koy pond with a HUGE filtration system. His filtration mats collect about 3 wheel burrows full of pond slime each year.

SO,,,, EVERYTHING, ;>) goes into his GARDEN! The more it smells, the deeper it goes!
He uses the 'gray' soapy shower water ON HIS CREEPY-CRAWLER VEGGIES & Brassicas. (sp 'greens')

He says, that it don't hurt 'em a bit, & it helps to keeps those ,,,,, stink bugs, & egg laying moths away!?
All I know for sure,, every year, he brings us HUGE, SWEET MELONS, ZUKES, & SQUASH. For next year, I talked him into starting 30#-40# Watermelons. ;>)
