Hi all. Anyone know what the name of this reed like grassy plant is?

It looks like Horsetail reed. Many people plant it for ponds.

We do have the horsetail in our pond but it does not look the same. The one I ask about is very upright and is growing in a dry area, and lacks the stripes the horsetail has. I think the main difference is it isn't near any water source and in a sunny, no irrigated planting.

It sure looks like the one in the photo has stripes? See if it pops apart at the stripe. I used to play with them as a child. There are many different kinds. There are some growing nearby here, with no water, drier climate.

You could take it to a nursery or call a Univ. Agric. Extension, also.
