Rolling 6 Week Old Sod

Our new lawn is looking good but soft in spots that are still wet down deep and had deeeper topsoil for grade.

Is it okay to roll a lawn 6-7 weeks in to flatten and compact a bit, or should I just let it be till spring?

@Vanner , welcome!

Hmm. Sounds like you might have a grading problem.

I'm in California, from Ohio, but if someone from near you contradicts what I say, take their word over mine . . .

Soil can be a pain, if you have to fill it in. If there was a lot of filling in done, it should have been tamped and rolled at the time.

For now, I'd say wait and see.

Hope all's well, and hope this helps!

Re: Rolling 6 Week Old Sod

We brought in a bunch of topsoil and it is was rolled properly before sod. The issue is when wet and the sod hasnít grown deep knitted roots that will firm up that soil.

Justly wondering if I can roll now or let sod develop that network of deep roots and then roll in spring.
