Recommendation on hand held pump sprayer

Hello to all,

I am seeking advice on what are the most reliable hand-held pump up sprayers [2 or 3 gal]. Looking for specific make and model?

No matter what brand I get, the handle starts to leak, the pump mechanism fails, etc. Note, I always clean up my units afterwards and lube O-Rings and other parts per instructions. And, I do not dispense products that destroy the unit.

I saw a review for the top 10 best HH pump sprayers, but the ratings were 3 stars, etc. I always seek the most critical reviews so I can see if the products fail, made bad, low quality or user error.

Thank you very much, tstex

Yes, chapin will be the best you can buy. Not there very cheap ones made for the box stores.

Need one that says VITON seals. (Better rubber parts)

Retail on the good ones are high.

This is the cheapest you want to buy and a good deal.

Re: Recommendation on hand held pump sprayer

The Smith Contractor garden sprayers are very reliable and they have a separate pressure release valve. The release valve is a great alternative to trying to slowly remove the pump mechanism and not have chemicals sprayed into your face.

Different models have different seals depending on the chemicals used.

I've got a 3 gallon Solo sprayer that's lasted 6 years, so far. If it starts to leak, I just spray all the o-rings with silicone.

I find it amusing that the Amazon vendor gives the option to buy one for $34.62, but a two pack for $96.30.?????

Re: Recommendation on hand held pump sprayer

I selected the Chapin battery powered backpack sprayer in part because the company provides excellent customer support for their sprayers which are less reliable than the simple pump sprayers.

What is important is the availability of spare or replacement parts for a sprayer like the hose and wand assembly and the seals. I have had to send sprayers off to the local landfill for want of replacement parts.

Re: Recommendation on hand held pump sprayer

I had one of those Spray Doc plastic tank sprayers since about 1986, and it still worked well, until I couldn't find parts to overhaul it with.

Re: Recommendation on hand held pump sprayer

I've had the same issue as the OP. Seems like they start leaking whatever you put in the tank all over your hand, or the tips are junk, or the hose is junk after only one summer.

I use Stihl sprayers. Very well made and last a long time as long as you clean them after use.

Re: Recommendation on hand held pump sprayer

Thanks folks - I see you can buy generic replacement parts if you pump container and pump handle are still good. Keep the O-rings and other lubricated w a good grade of silicone that is used for pool parts...
