Ming Aralia & plant food

Wasn't sure where to put this, decided to put it here cause I want
to recommend Oscomote plant food. It's wonderful stuff, we've been
using it for a couple of years for outdoor plants, shrubs and flowers.

You can't overdo it, the plants love it. We had to order our last package
of it from Amazon, cause all the stores were out of it this Spring!
My head groundskeeper said, "Joann, stop telling people about this,
pretty soon I won't be able to get it even on Amazon!

Anyhow, back to my Ming...I've had this plant for over twenty years ago,
it just thrives in our Sunny Living room. Sunny in the winter anyhow,
summertime it's more shaded because of the leaves on the oak trees.

I never move this plant more than four feet, sometimes I have it on the left
side of the coffee table, sometime on the right side of the coffee table.

Well, recently the leaves started falling off like crazy, I've lost at least fifty
percent of it's foliage. This had never happened before.

Then I decided to spray it with the Bayer insect spray...Then I bought a bigger
pot and transplanted it using the head guys home brewed potting soil which
consists of dirt from his compost patch and the Oscomote fertilizer.

I moved it to the kitchen window A week ago) which gets more sun
than the LR and have been misting twice a day.

I love this plant and will be seriously bummed if this plant KTB!

This is how it looked this winter, I give it just a little water each day, cause
the LR is hot and dry.
It's planted in a pot within a pot. It doesn't like wet feet, it's important
for the water to be able to drain out of the pot...the big pot has no holes in
the bottom.

Re: Ming Aralia & plant food

This is it from July 21st after it was dragged into the kitchen and before it
was sprayed with Bayer and fertilized with oscomote; it was half dead and the color was washed out...

I just checked it now and it has recovered tremendously overnight.
There is a bunch of new growth. I take a pic and post it later.

from July 21st.

From Today...

The color is starting to come back. It's drooping just a little bit, hopefully
a few more days will remedy that. It looks ten times better than
a week ago.

Re: Ming Aralia & plant food

I think it was a combo of both the fertilizer and bug killer that aided
in the recovery.
The new growth that sprung out is remarkable.
Funny thing, this is the window that we keep our lemon tree in the winter.

We had a breakout of mites on the lemon tree, I couldn't see the mites
but saw the webs...the tree was dying, lost a tremendous amount of
leaves and the leaves that were left on the tree were all cupped.

The Bayer spray fixed the lemon tree problem.
