Question

aphids on plum tree...?

iíve determined that the plum tree has aphids. (they were here last year but not as much as this year). iíve tried squirting the tree leaves from below with a strong hose stream to knock them off, tried releasing ladybugs and have watered the tree. Also the local birds come by for a snack now and again.

it seems that the tree has gotten somewhat better.

if i do nothing more can i expect them to return now and also next year?

what can i do now and next year to keep the aphids away?

i was thinking of spraying them w/ neem oil soon. would that help?

@UltraRed !

What kind of plum do you have? Edible or ornamental? The big pivotal question.

edible.

we just released some parasitic wasps as a solution and will likely do that again if the aphids return next year.

Thanks for the update.

I have friends whose "stone fruits" are bedeviled by bugs, and they're always finding "solutions" that only mostly work for ornamental plants, as opposed to edibles.

Let us know how it goes.
