Falling timber, putting it on the mill and building the addition
Being an ex timber faller my brother in law asked me to fall some old growth ceder on his mothers property. I feel the trees and yarded to the portable mill. We cut it up into 1x6's and left it rough.
We built this addition to his home and put the cedar on the ceiling. We also have some locus, juniper, blue pine and some doug fir. All cut on the mill and taken out of the woods of Oregon.

One of my remodeled rooms in my home.
It was a box room with two small windows. I removed the outside wall and put in the two big windows and the door to the outside.
When I vaulted the ceiling I sistered in 2x8's. The 2x6's were spanning over 12 feet and wouldn't work for the attic room we were planning. I then removed every other 2x6 to open up the area.
The wiring was bad and not enough of it. I had to rewire the whole room. I am big on double gang outlets since there are never enough plug ins when you need them.
The trim is all mahogany.
My wife and I talked about the color and wanted earth tones and something bold. I went to the store and picked a color. A week later my wife did the same thing. We never talked about the color and out of all the colors available we both picked the same color. Too weird.
We call it the Happy Room. Guests love it and it is the favorite spot in the morning when the sun lights it up and makes it glow.
