You Only Have 2 Days And $2k To Redo A Roof. What Do You Do

When is the wood so far gone that it needs to be replaced? You've got a spectrum from wet, to falls apart when you touch it. What are the specific characteristics for when it's needs to be replaced?

You'll know when you tear it up. If its plywood it'll just be mushy and crumble or be bowed to crap, and if its boards they wont be much different. If the roofs only leaking in ten places now, get some tarps, and some strapping and just get it covered.
If you try to do a rotten low pitch roof on minimal budget, you will run out of money half way through and be in a much worse spot then now.

Same poster who has posted at two other forums and didn't get the answers he liked, funny thing, basically the same ideas have been posted here for you.

2k won't do it, and 2 day isn't enough for a DIY.

Tear off,
fix wood,
nail base sheet,
self adhered modbit.

read up on the details and do it right.

There is a million ways to do the project.

The S/A modbit is the most DIY friendly I can think of.

EPDM being the 2nd.

Any option will be over 2k, unless you use #90 rolled roofing but in Florida I wouldn't think they would allow it.

Not fixing any rotten wood is a recipe for disaster. Going over painted, bad shingles is also.

Save the 2k buy some good tarps till you can do it right.

Unless the insurance company has set a deadline, if that is the case your screwed, since that's more then a 2 day project for a DIY, even with buying your friends beer and pizza.

You could get it torn off in that amount of time. But for a first time installing anything even shingles it will take you more then 2 days if your looking to do it properly.

We get too many folks asking how to do something with completely unrealistic budgets and time constraints.

I threw in the towel on this one. Didnt seem to pass the smell test. His cousin ? some of the q's asked were from someone with no roofing experience. Why would a cousin be asking some random relative with no roofing experience to come roof his 18sq.

good luck with it

200 cans of flex-seal might do the job.
