I have torn off 45 squares of old woodruf masonite shake and it is dry. I would like to burn it in my airtight wood stove in my shop. Anyone know if it is treated, toxic, might give off harmful fumes or toxins that might harm people, pets or other? Do you know of any literature or publishings on dangers in burning in this manner? Thanks, Mike 503-622-3639 or email fordhavenzigzag@msn.com

Trust me, anything that "shingle" was treated with is looong gone. Why do you think it had one of the largest recalls in roofing history?
If it was your home fireplace (as your topic title suggested) I was going to say no, don't take the chance. Since it is your AIRTIGHT shop stove, I see no problem with it. Anyone that thinks different obviously has no shop with a wood stove in it, otherwise they would understand.

I've burned wood in a soapstone wood stove for 7 years at my last house
My concern would not be for the person in the shop
Rather any smoke going up & out that other people have to breathe

You could burn PT in a shop with that stove & not smell it
Bad idea tho

I just do not know what chemicals may be left in the woodruf wood from the treatment & bonding agent - glue ?
