Will a soffit vent fit?
 

Im looking to install soffit vents in my attic. The side of the house is made of 2x4 wall studs with 2 2x6s stacked on top. The two by sixes only stick out about 2 inches past the end of the 2x4s. Is there even enough room to install soffit vents here? And will I have to cut all the way through the 4 inches of the stacked 2x6s?

It sounds like you would be better off with fascia venting as AaronB talked about in a previous post than what you are talking about but a picture may help.
