Will shingle bundle's tabs melt together?

HI - Home Depot will conveyor the 70 shingle bundles I need to re-roof my house (DIY - I've shingled before) to
the roof. Question: Being in my 60s, I plan to re-roof slowly - over a 2-3 week period. I'm worried that the tabs on these unopened bundles of shingles could melt together in the heat/sun if left on the roof for upwards of 3 weeks. Is this a justified worry?? Alternative is to leave the bundles in garage & bull-work them up the ladder on my shoulder. MUCH THANKS!!

Let them be on the roof top.

You will probably get a heart attack carrying up 70 bundles. I know I probably would if I were 60 instead of 50.

Or, to save on the stress, havce Home Depot make 2 or 3 seperate deliveries for you when you need the additional materials on the roof.

I can't imagine there being enough savings in the world to make this project worthwhile if I were in my 60's, unless I was nearly broke.

Why won't you pay someone $ 50.00 to $ 60.00 per square to do all of the labor instead of killing your body? You are going to save a maximum of about$ 1,300.00 if this is just a reroof.

Also, remember to lay them upside down, or on long end, with tabs up, or else they will still stick together. Do yourself a favor and hire some college kids to help you out.

personally,I HAVE THEM BREAK DOWN THE PALLETS TO 5 SQ.,THEN STACK 2 BUNDLES EACH SIDE OF THE RIDGE(SO EACH side bundles are even w/ridge)then have them boom the pallets directly to those spots, and cover them w/the white canvas, this way they stay cool if there`s any chance of sliding, nail a 2x4 next to the 2 bundle piles on either side

The plastic on the back helps, like a saran wrap.

If you're still taking suggestions, please take this one.

Have them delivered to the roof.

I thought the same thing. I tried getting them up there myself in 90 degree heat (17' high roof or so). After one square (four bundles), I was sucking wind so bad I almost swallowed the neighbors wind chimes. I'm 41.

I rented a shingle lift for $65 bucks, and it was well worth the money. Hell, even that thing was a bear to set up.

See if your local ABC Supply, Allied Building Materials, Bradco Roofing Supply, or Shelter Distributing will do a competitive price match or for no more than a $ 1.00 per bundle, (usually .50/bundle), if they will load the roof for you.

It is money well spent. If you don't believe me, see what the previous other responders had to say about it.

If you do decide to lug them up there, I would open the bundles and take them up half bundles at a time. It saved me back. I started out throwing a bundle over my shoulder, but I decided it wasn't worth it. I then just open the bundles and brought half up at a time. I would usually bring up two squares and install them before grabbing more shingles.
