Certification is a strange thing. Who is certifying whom? Often times manufacturers will certify their contractors. The edge up is that in these cases the contractors can often sell extended warrantys... or in siome cases if youa re not certified then there will be no warranty on the product. Fair enough, but you CAN still install the product if you can get the material.
For example, We install various materials by various different manufacturers. For logistical reasons, when installing single ply roofing, we often opt for Versico. We are not certified by Versico, but their product is easier to get. We install a lot of it and we do it right. We can not sell their extended warrantys which are extremely common on commercial. Therefore if someone wants the manufacturer no dollar limit warranty, we sell genflex which we are certified by.
Certified and licensed should not be confused, the two are not the same. Typically a license will be issued by a governmental body who often times will have a test involved and will usually check for bonding and insurance.
