When is it time to re-roof?

If you know the time is near for a new roof, but you're not having any leaks, should I wait for a problem to arise or just be preemptive and get a new roof?

Right now the shingles look bad (dirty) but they aren't curling or leaking.

What is the unwritten rule?

Read the thread right below your new post.

Click on this link. It answered the same question.

How can you tell when it's time to replace a roof?
