What type shingle

I am planning on having a new roof put on. One contractor works with GAF and the other with Owens Corning. There is a thousand dollar difference between the two estimates, the contractor that works with Owens Corning being cheaper. One of the contractosr has worked with both GAF and Owens Corning. He had an experience with Owens Corning where the shingles were a different dye lot so the shading of the roof ended up being different. Has anyone experienced this. Also, I don't plan on being in this house for more than 10yrs. Is the lifetime warranty that GAF offers really necessary for me to have, is it worth an extra thousand?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

No matter which shingle you choose you'll be able to find a contractor who has had some issues with that brand.
I would make my choice based on the best/most reliable contractor rather then the brand of shingle.

BTW, they both manufacturers give a life time warranty on their dimensional shingles.

Majority of shingle manufactures have a transferable warranty. Some come at a cost to the individual transferring the warranty.

I have had a couple of issues with color shading but the job I was on was massive and it required shingles from other suppliers who purchased shingles at different times.
