What is the best season for repairing shingles?
I live just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. My roof had a few high spots and when I took a better look, I saw where nails are pushing them up. Is this something that I should address right now, or wait for warmer weather? We are having highs in the 50's and 60's. Or is it best to wait and work on them when some cooler weather rolls in? They are architectural made by Owens Corning. Thanks!

Not sure where you came up with the idea of cooler is better. Less likyl to break the shingles if there warm.
Why wait for it to leak fix it asap. If those poped there may be more. Most pops are cause from trouble with the roof decking. (rot) |

If the nail has penetrated any part of the shingle then it should be replaced.(Shingle)
If the shingle has no areas where the nail popped through.,pull the nail.,add another nail.Seal the nail opening and seal the tab back down.

Too cold, they break.
Too hot, they glue together again and you can really tear them up walking on them. 60 -75° about ideal. |

What is the best season for repairing shingles?
Preferred temperature is about 70 degrees, on the beach, cocktail with and umbrella in it, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for the advice. The weather should be just right for the repairs this weekend. While outside, I saw a few more areas that had popped up. I got what I paid for.

What is the best season for repairing shingles?
I guess I am losing my mind. When I read the OP's post the first time I thought he asked what was a good reason for repairing shingles.,.,.GAWD!!!!!!!
I thought.,.,O.k.,I will play along.,maybe let someone else bite on that one. .,So now that I have it right.,I prefer 65*-70*.Not to cool but not to warm for scuffing. Oddly enough I am asked by my homeowners as they are signing the check or mostly before.," So.,what is your favorite seaon for roofing"?.,Regardless if it is 100* with an index of 108*,,,or 15* with a wind chill of 1* I say.,right now. That way they feel that I prefer that type of weather whatever it is.

when temperture reaches above 60. It would be a good idea to replace them. Really they are ways to replace shingles at almost any temp. Nails pop up for many reasons one is that the wood is getting wet causing it to expand then shrinks when dries out causing the nail head to sit up. check out my link on roof condensation that could one reason way it is expanding. <Company link removed> hope this helps.
