I have at least 4 regular vents on the roof and everybody tells me I must install turbines since I live in tx. Basically I want to know if I can just remove the vents and screw down the turbine and just seal around it? I don't even know what I would use to seal it off lol.

I'm a newb.

The people that built the house have about 20 soffit vents around the house and 4 vents on top. I'll look up what a ridge vent is. I just thought the turbine vents that move when wind is blowing would pull more hot air out of attic.

Yes.

I really want to know how hard it would be to do it. I would like to remove the vents and put something that will pull more hot air out of the attic. I counted 20 soffit vents and only 3 vents on roof(none are whirly birds). I feel like the cooling would be more efficient if I could replace the low flow vents on roof.

The "cooling would be more efficient " if you were to air-seal the attic first, and insulate it at least minimum code per location before adding ventilation.

1. What is the square footage of the house?

2. Is garage attached?

3. Are HVAC units or ducting in the attic?

There are many ways to ventilate your attic space but if done incorrectly or in excess will defeat the purpose all together. I would like to remove the vents and put something that will pull more hot air out of the attic.
How is ventilation, if balanced, done in excess?
