venting a tin roof

I will be installing a tin roof on my existing roof that is currently shingled, The roof is a 3 / 12 pitch has soffet venting. My question is: that being such a low pitch would i be better to go with a maxi vent or a ridge vent like most tin roofs . I am worried about the rain backing into the ridge vent in high winds and being blocked when the snow comes since i live in southern Ontario.
Any input would be appreciated,
Moparman.
