Venting dryer/bathroom

I recently purchased a very old home and am slowly working on remodeling/fixing all the problems.

The previous owners were simply venting the dryer into the laundry room, and the bathroom had no ventilation at all.

The section of the house that these two rooms are in is a 1 story, with a flat tar roof, with a metal sloped roof over that.

My dilemma lies in how should I go about venting this? I thought about possible venting it down through the basement (unfinished), and out a basement window. Besides that, my only other option I believe is to go up through the flat tar roof, and up another 7 feet or so and through the metal. If I go this route, what's the best way to go through the tar roof? I'm unsure where any of the joists are, nor what else is between the ceiling of the rooms and the tar roof.

With a metal roof I'd go out the side of the house
The dryer w/vent near the bottom going thru the basement is an option
But I would not go thru a window

Bathroom install an overhead fan & go out the side

That leads to problem #2...it's a brick/stone house...no idea how easy it will be to go through the side of that.

Bathroom ventilation is not required if there is a window
But I put a fan in no matter what

You can go thru brick...I have not done it
But Holmes on Homes they used a hole saw that went thru brick
Might be able to rent one

So brick covers everything ?
No soffit area near the roof ?

The laundry room isn't on an exterior wall, so I'm thinking through the basement is the best bet on that.

The bathroom is on an exterior, but the soffit will be hard to utilize (kinda hard to explain, I'll take pictures when I get home from work).

Going through the roof is not a big deal. Hire a roofer to make sure it is all done properly.

I'm gonna get on the "call a roofer" bandwagon on this one. Through the roof is likely the best option, but I couldn't really advise exactly how to accomplish it w/o some pics.

When you install the dryer duct do not use a flexible vent. Use a single wall duct that is not connected with screws (catches lint). You want to minimize the number of elbows and distance if possible. If you vent through a wall keep away from any air conditioning condenser (lint will gum up the coil). If you do punch through the roof make sure that the vent has an unscreened opening with a damper. (A screened vent will catch the lint and present a fire hazard over time).

In addition, I suggest designing the vent and shaft in order to be able to access it for easy cleaning.
