Vent hood exhausting through roof

My large 48" kitchen stove vent hood needs ducting through the roof. Ducting starts at 6". Need plan on how to send a run through the sloped roof 12' above. Thanks

You need a roof mounted damper exhaust vent, plus, most damper vent I have purchased come with a 3" or 4" tail stub, so, if yours is 6", you will need a pipe reducer.

This grease that gets expelled is a serious fire hazard if not connected properly with solid metal duct tubing, so you should contact a heating or roofing contractor to provide the air tight and sealed ducting through the attic and cut through the roof.

The brand that I commonly use, is Broan. They are sold at Menards and Home Depot, but you also have to purchase the tubed ducting and reducer at the same time seperately.

Thanks Ed, Broan's Roof Cap Model 636 looks like the ticket.

I can't remember the numbers off of the top of my head, but the one that comes with a duct connecting kit, which is the smaller version, id only for bathroom exhaust fans.

Make sure it is the larger one with the stub to hook up the metal ducting for a kitchen range hood exhaust. It is code due to fire hazards.
