Truss built patio roof cover

Hello,
I am planning on building a patio roof cover using trusses. The cover wii be 23 ft from the house and 16 feet wide. My question is can I use joist hangers to attach the two lvl joists to the rim joist of the house or do I need to install a ledger? I wii be supporting the lvl joist with 6 x 6 posts at 11.5 ft and 23 ft from the house

Thanks

Scott

No picture of the house, no drawings, going to need some more info.
Got your permit yet?

Many times a hanger can be used. At the very least you will need engineering for the beam and the hangers.

What kind of engineering are you referring to?

Aerospace.

Structural, of course. You're kidding right?

As noted by others, it is impossible to visualize your plans without a drawing, photo or sketch. There does seem to be some confusion in your post, since you start out saying you are planning to use trusses, then you morph into using lvl joists. I don't know if you plan to support the trusses using the lvls, or you have something else in mind. I also can't tell if you plan to build your own trusses, or plan to use pre-engineered trusses.
