Tar & Felt paper removal

Is there a way of removing an old layer of felt with tar covering it.(aka Pitch & gravel roof) I've been told by roofing companies, scraping it is the only way. Is there a pneumatic or electric scaper available? Looks like they hot mopped it first then layed felt on top of it so it looks like a real PAIN to scrap off. I want it removed to the underlayment and start clean.

Not that I am aware of.

We always use the old fashoined roof shingle scrapers and .....

...our secret weapon:

...Young 'backs' ... instead of the old 'hunched-over' slow moving and complaining backs (that would include me).....

Is it solidly mopped to the roof deck? Most times, these systems are mopped over a slip sheet to prevent completed adhesion to the roof deck, then ballaasted. If I can help, just feel free to ask.
