Steel roofing


Does Michigan codes requirer a Ice sheild under a steel roof. it's a residental roof. the steel panels are one lenght

Steel roofing


No idea what that states code is but metal roof does not even need sheathing under it so what good would storm and ice shield do?
Why are you asking?
Look around at some of the metal roofing sites and see what they require under the roofing.
Most suggest skip sheeting.
Some say just use 1 X 6's.

Steel roofing


Many codes don't separate out the requirements for steel vs. traditional asphalt.

If it is one panel, you are correct that it will be redundant but potentially still code mandated.
