Soffit vents blocked - trying to fix from the outside

I noticed some gray type mold forming in the attic, and it was damp this past winter.

I fixed the ridge vent last year (removed, cut the gap wider and reinstalled)

I pulled down the soffit and now see jammed insullation.
It is jammed so tight the foam vents are pushed tight to the roof.

From the outside of the house remove soffit.
Push insulation in away from soffit to clear the opening
Install blue foam pieces in each opening (only everyother now)
Re-install soffit, except each piece will have a vent strip.

I also pulled the ridge vent off, as it was nailed down tight.
Got a decent rush of hot air as we pulled if off.

I installed a new baffle type system. I guess supposed to be an upgrade from the typical cobra vent.

The mesh type ridge vents are often installed incorrectly and don't allow enough airflow. The baffle type are definitely a better system. Unfortunately some contractors don't understand the products they are installing, so they end up being installed incorrectly.
