a soccer ball hit the roof of the patio

While my friends were playing soccer ball in my backyard, some one hit the ball to the roof and the ball bounced back to the other side of the backyard. I did not see where the ball hit, but when I went and checked the roof, I found that one spot was not flat any more... I am a new home owner and do not know much about roofing... I am wondering if the ball has damaged the roof. If yes, how do i fix it... Thanks, everybody.

A soccer ball is not going to damage that roof.
What you have there is either the shingles butted too tight or a nail pop.

Naw. If it gets windy enough to affect that then that lil fishmouth will be the least of your problems. You can go up and see if it's a buckled shingle or a popped nail, either way it's easy to fix, just gotta know what it is first.

Thank you very much, OldNBroken! I don't have a ladder, so I am not likely to get up there soon... since it is just one shingle doing that, is that safe to just leave it like that for a while, or I need to get a professional to take care of it ASAP?

Wont hurt anything right now, it can wait to get looked at. As long as theres no water coming in, and the shingle isnt lifting further, its fine. Like others have said, its either buckled or a nail pop. NOTHING SERIOUS
