skylight vs. tube

getting a skylight replaced in one part of the house and considering putting in a few tube skylights in another part.

From a lighting standpoint, approx how many tubes give off light equivalent to 1 skylight... does it take 2 tubes, 4 tubes?

Everyone says the tubes magnify the light.. i can see how they reflect it down.. and I'm not physicist but it doesn't seem like you can actually increase the light coming out vs. what is going in.

Depends on the size of the skylight vs. the size of the "tube-light".
Skylight size - 1 ft. by 1 ft. or 4 ft. by 4 ft.?
The "Sun-Tubes" work very well!

Say 4x2 vs 1x1.

Assuming light even, it would take 8.

However skylight does have white walls which reflect less... but the light usually bounces once instead of 10 times.

People keep saying that the light in increased via the tube (which i don't buy)
If true then it might only take 2

However, Assuming a 5% loss in light on each reflection in the tube. On a 10 foot tube, unless the sun is perfectly lined up, you are going to be reflecting a bunch of times.. so then you would lose light and so it would take 10 or 20 tubes to be equal.
