Shiplap, T&G, 2"x 6" roof deck material

My 1956 roof deck is 2 x 6 form boards and some T&G over a garage.

Is it necessary to cover it with plywood after tearoff or, can we attach the base to the roof deck as originally done?

Top surface material will be torch down.

No need for plywood.

Thanks.

Some of the boards have a 1/4" gap between them. One has 1/2" gap.

Is this a problem?
