Shingling around a peak

I have a low pitch roof on a bungalow. On the front, there is a porch with the peak opposite to the roof peak. How do I match the shingle pattern from one side of the porch peak to the other? I start on one side, and work my way towards the valley formed by the porch roof. I am flashing the valley, so I make my cuts up the valley channel. Now, how do I know how to continue on the other side of the porch so the shingles will match once I get higher than the porch peak? I attached a picture of a similiar roof, as I don't have any of the actual roof. I am using 3 tab shingles.

Any help is appreciated.

Shingling around a peak

Re-roof or layover.
Installing 3-tabs or dimensional.
Racking pattern or step pattern.
Flashing the valley? Open cut with exposed metal?

It's a matter of taking a few measurements and striking some lines,
but the measurements depends on the style of shingles being installed.

Starting on the rake side, mark 36" and 30" in from the rake at the top & bottom and strike a line, that's your bonlines. (I strike mine at 35" & 29", this makes for a larger partial tab at the ending rake)
From the eave drip measure up and put a mark at 11 1/2",
than every 10" (every other course) or 20" (every fourth course).
The marks on the rake ends (left and right) will go all the way to the top,
on the valley side you will need to make a couple marks, hold your chalk line beyond that mark taking you closer to the valley, than make a few more marks until you get above it. (do this on both sides of the reverse gable).
Once you have ran your shingles from the starting rake to the top of the valley, use the closest line above the top of the valley too run a shingle as far over to the other rake as possible (high nailing) and than strike a bondline down from there to the eave on that side, which ever bondline your high nailed shingle is on is the bonline your first upright shingle should be on when you start running the other side of that porch.

I used standard measurement, if your installing metric you'll need to adjust your measurements accordingly.
