Secure SR clips to shingle roof

Hello All,

I'm going to be installing some SR cable on my roof sometime between now and the fall to aid against ice damns. The cables I got come with good these metal clips seen here: http://www.radiantsource.com/cart/ca...t_detail&p=278 .What should I use to secure the clips to the roof? An adhesive of some sort, Id take recommendations or should I use tacks/nails? Whatever I get get at Home Depot or Lowes would be nice or if I need to order something online, I definately can as I've got time.

Thank You,

~Skelleyman

1-1/4 galzinized roofing nails.
Just make sure the brackets are slid up under the shingles and there's no exposted nails.

Yep. Make sure they're the HDD-Hot dipped. The EG will rust off in no time.

Thanks. Can't tell if these are dipped or not. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...&storeId=10051

Those are EG-Electro galvanized. Might as well be 'brights' for all the good EG does.

The ones you want are dull grey and look rough as a cob. If you can't find any, buy and use copper nails. 1-1/4" should be fine.

Question: So I nail the bracket under the top shingle or outermost shingle. Won't that allow moisture through? Should I put a bead of calk underneath the nail head? Then give it that last hit?

The nails holding the shingles to the roof are supposed to be right directly under the edge of each shingle above it. They don't get caulked. You can if you want to though.

Would these work?
