Sealing three tab shingles

Question:When you install three tab shingles and the weather conditions do not allow for enough thermal gain to heat the adhesive and seal it and you live in an area prone to high winds how do you get the tabs to seal? Do you put roofing cement under each tab, use some device to heat them? Thanks!

Sealing three tab shingles

if you go back 20 years there were no sealants.tar line on the shingles, they just relied on proper nailing,if they`re nailed right ,it shouldn`t be an issue

Sealing three tab shingles

Hello,

I agree with TRG, but in Alaska we do use Henry's mastic if the job calls for it. A quarter size dab under each corner of the tab.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go with the mastic if I see any lift problems.
