Roofing replacement

Hello All! I need to replace shingles on my roof and have discovered they are stapled on the roof. Do I remove each staple or hammered them down level with the sheathing? Thanks in advance.

Roofing replacement

You remove everything the best you can with a roofing shovel then you go back and hammer down the remaining staples

You may also like to bring up a set of pliers or channel locks for when one side still sticks in the old decking and a shovel or pitchfork will not lift them out of position.

Yes, remove them.

They can poke holes through the new shingles some day, later down the road.
