roofing problem

Hi, can someone please give me some advice, I have a serious problem. I am in the middle of
building an extension, the roof pitch is very low (around 13 degrees). The span from wall plate
to wall plate is 8.7m. Now this is the difficult part, as the ceilings are vaulted I have got
nothing at the bottom to stop the rafters from wanting to spit open and as the pitch is so low
it just puts more pressure on them. There are no load bearing walls for support and I do not
want to put an rsj in.
Any suggestions ?.

You have to either hold the walls together or the ridge up, there are no other options.

The short version is that either you put in ceiling joists to hold the walls together or you put a large beam at the ridge or you support the rafters at the ridge by building a wall under them. 8.7 meters is a long span.
