Roofing Materials

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and would really like some help.
I'd like to know what materials are needed for certain types of roofing.

Composition, Rolled Asphalt, Tile, shake and Steel.

The basics on composition I believe, are sheathing (if needed), felt, flashing, valley flashing (when needed) tar around vents.

My experience with any type of construction is at the handyman level.

I work for a home preservation company and my contractors put in bids that I would like to match and get for them. Many times I fall short on that goal and would like to know of anything else I can do to reach it.
Are there any specialists that may be needed? If so, what type so I can add to the bid.

Most roofing that seems to be coming up are for composition, tile and rolled asphalt...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just have your contractor give you a line item bid.
