Roofing on a log home

I am building a log home and I am not sure what kind of roof I should install. I current have a roof made out of beams on my blue prints. But I was thinking maybe trusses would be easier and cheaper. What do you think about beam roofs made out of logs? And to the beams should I just use lumber or engineered I joist?

Roofing on a log home

Either way works fine. It is often a 'budget' that motivates the decision.
