Roofing leaks

I just have registered in this forum and hope I would get a better solution to my roofing problem. During rain, the water is leaking from the ridge vent down to the attic. I did an inspection and found that there were two pieces of ridge vents butted together with the cement that has been cracked. I tried patching it up with sealant, but it did not help. Anyone had a similar issue? If so please explain how you resolved it. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Upload a picture so we can see what it looks like.

But it sounds like the ridge vent you have should overlap when sectioning together.

I've never seen a ridge vent that needed to be glued in anyway. The ridge cap shingles should be cover up any joints.

If someone cheaped out and used 3 tab shingles sometimes they will crack.
If someone cut the sheathing back to far at the peak it would leave a wide open area for water to get in.

That's why we need to see a picture. I thought he was talking about the older style metal ridge vents.

It's a spam post guys. This idiot also posted an 'answer' in th esecond post taking you to a another place. His/her twin posts are elsewhere too.

A fake question and link answer. I had reported this post too, but it's still here for some reason.
