Roofing For Habitat

Roofmaster Plus is sponsoring the Springfield Habitat For Humanity "Blitz" build. This build is called the Six By Six build off.

Six homes by the 6th month.(June) We are doing the roofs, soffit and fascia wrap and the siding on all 6.

We started this build in March and one home is complete and two more are underway.

If noone objects I would like to post pix and video of the roofing/soffit/fascia/siding progress for the build.

Habitat and other organizations are a great way to give back to your community as a contractor and to help someone less fortunate achieve the dream of homeownership in America.

Helping someone not only is a great thing to do but it will make you feel good and keep you in shape. Not to mention you can learn alot about new home construction.

I think the Six By Six is possible because on the Extreme Makeover Home Edition Joplin we were also a sponsor in the 7 Homes In Seven Days and with this build we have a couple months.

Views from the interior framing of House 3 and the new floor layout for home 4.House 3 was decked today I assisted with one side but had appointments and was unable to assist with the other side.,however the roof for 3 will be installed in the a.m as well as the soffit and fascia wrap.

I need to get caught up with 1 and 2 with pictures and video posting.

The following video was shot by Steve Graham who is also sponsoring all six builds with plumbing and drywall. This video shows before the roof was installed. This video is a shot of the first house.

Roofer...yes...commentator...needs a bit of work like you said.

You are doing some great stuff up there and that is to be commended.

We are working with a few folks here and I hope that we can follow your example.

Well done!!!!

Thank you my friend..,I posted on another site and caught some flak.,I apologize to anyone that misunderstood my post as self glorification.I really enjoy helping people as so many other contractors across the U.S and was wanting to express that part of my personality.

I have never said nor thought I was better than anyone and if this post made it seem as if it was then I apologize.

You don't have to be a contractor to help others. It can be something as simple as seeing a neighbor or church member that is in need and just help them.

I have never been a fan of just giving cash out for obvious reasons. As contractors it can be as simple as driving down the street and seeing a home that is in really bad shape.Instead of laughing or making goofball comments try stopping and seeing if there is some way you can help them by making their home a little better for them to live in as well as to look at.

There is Habitat For Humanity everywhere.,There are church organizations and city beautification funds and projects everywhere. All it takes is some kindness for your fellow man and the desire to do something positive to bring change to your communities.

I have said it so many times that it is extremely important to pay it forward and to show appreciation to your community and to give some thanks and show some gratitude to your city, town, counties or where ever you provide your service.

Most of these programs provide the materials all you do is provide the service.I have met many of the new homeowners and the feeling you get from helping them is worth much more than you might think.

My post was just about giving back.,nothing more and nothing less.

I think its great that you are helping others who might not ever be able to have property repairs if it were not for you.I think its great to hear.Keep on it.

House # 4 is up.Sunday this house was framed in the parking lot of the church sponsoring the build. The chalked out the floor on the parking lot and framed the house right in the parking lot.It was disassembled and put on a flatbed bound for The Lagacy Trails subdivision.

But before the home was disassembled the house was blessed by the church right in the parking lot.Everyone from the churched prayed for the new owner and signed their names to the king studs and cripple studs and the wall sheathing. What a cool thing to do.

Look at those vandals putting up all that graffiti.

Just kidding.

God Bless those Church members, people willing to donate their talents and time, and the future residents.

Great story RM

T0his video is from the Wesley Methodist Church.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... wB9MT-E6rY

This church is sponsoring the home that was put together in a parking lot.The video shows some of their build and it also shows the assembly of the home in the parking lot. This is house # 4 as is all the pictures from yesterday. They are another organization in the ozarks that reaches out to help those in need.

My wife had to install the ridge vent which annoys me because she takes a while to do it.But keep that a secret.

This video is a pan view of the site from house #2.

1,2,3,and 4 down and 2 to go.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5HP0_qF8zQ

The Six By Six picture is before all this started.

Well its official. The Six By Six build for 6 homes by June (6) is complete. It was made possible for 6 Springfield Missouri families to now become new homeowners.

The new homes are pretty basic worth in the vicinity of $100,000.00.Ranging from 2 to 4 bedrooms some pretty stoked children will now have bedrooms of their own in a new energy efficient LEED Green certified home.

The flooring materials are laminate, tile and carpet.Valspar paint was donated by Valspar.Silverline windows and doors by Anderson.I believe Carrier provided the Heating & Cooling units.

Limited Lifetimes for the roofs, functioning soffit,Ridgevent.5" gutters and Certainteed siding.

It was another cool experience to be a part of.Made alot of new friends and met some wonderful and deserving as well as humble new homeowners.

None of this would have been possible if not for the Sponsors, partners and the several thousand volunteers who donated time and effort to make this possible for these new families.People in the Ozarks are some very special people who go to lengths to help those in need.

The Joplin tornado really brought our communities together.People from Springfield were in Joplin helping with the clean up effort and I met some people from Springfield last winter when we were doing roofs and siding for the Joplin Habitat. This time Joplin returned the favor and had people that were helped by Springfield residents in turn were here for this Six By Six build.

No one company or organization can really take credit for this build. It took the effort of several companies and organizations with the public volunteering to make this happen.I say congratulations S.W Missouri. What a great place to live.

Below is the link to Habitat Springfields Facebook page. All the pictures are posted there.I could try to post them all but it would take way to long.

The key and ownership presentations are on May 31 @ 6:30.I will take final pix of all 6.
