Roofing Contractor Problems

We hired a roofing contractor this year, gave a deposit in May 2005 and have yet to have our roof replacement done. We had three or four scheduled dates and no one showed up nor contacted to explain why.

Every contact was initiated from me after repeatledy calling day after day every half hour. It has been one excuse after another whenever I could get a hold of the contractor. I started faxing so I would have things in writing when this crap started.

I contacted the BBB and the attorney general's office to file a complaint. I also faxed the owner to know that we wanted the deposit back and would no longer require his services.

Of course, no reply sooo . . . I am researching a lawyer to try to get our deposit money back but am not sure what type to hire or if there are other options available in trying to get the deposit back. I don't trust this company to do the roofing replacemetn job becuase of the lack of communcation and responsibility. We are in Baltimore County, MD. Any suggestions.

PS: Oh yeah. I used www.roofsmith.com to get quotes from three vendors.

Roofing Contractor Problems

How about telling us the name of the contractor.

Get in your car and go track him down on a job. Demand your money right there in front of others. You've waited plenty long to get the work done. Get your deposit back and move on.

Roofing Contractor Problems

Bay Contractors, in Baltimore, MD but not the one that you'd find on the web. That is a bigger company. Oh, I have insisted on the return of the deposit on two seperate occasions with no response.

That is why I am tired of this guys games. I plan on having someone else do the roof becuase of his unreliability. I would try to track him down if I knew where to find him and didn't have to work 40 plus hours and babysit after.

The games p#$# me off because I don't have time for the nonsense nor the money to waste just lettng him have it (the deposit). We need to get the deposit back to get another roofer. Thanks for replying.

Roofing Contractor Problems

Here in MA all contractors have to have a HIC (home improvement) license and have to pay into a guaranty fund that is there for customers who get stiffed. Just curious if your'e state has anything like that? It would be worth a phone call to the state and local building dept. They don't fool around here with bad contractors, they would suspend his driver's lic and soon after he would be receiving bread and water for dinner ! Now if they could only devise something like that for bad homeowners , I would even donate my day old bread !!!
