1. You are not supposed to put nails in the lower corners.

2. I would envelope the flange in ice dams after nails, but thats me.

That method would not pass inspection here. The bottom half of the boot cover may not be covered with shingles here.

Also, the overlap on the bottom flange of the boot -
probably, should have another course of shingles under it.

I see those boot type flashing a lot, but all metal flashing are the bulk of what we see in CA. If it were me, and it was my house, wouldn't you put an all metal flashing and storm collar instead of the boot type.

Not having used the boot types much at all, i don't really trust them. Whats the consensus on boot vs all metal type they last or as we see in his vid do they fail more than the all metal type?

I dont think i ever get easy leak calls like whats in the vid, it is usually installation errors, improper tie in to a new addition, a hack or a HO repair job.
