Roofing

So after having 5 companys stop by to give estimates and researching on line I don't have a clue which product or company to use. I live in Boise, Idaho. We get snow and cold in winter and pretty hot in the summer. Pabco,Certine,ELK, Owens Corning. Any words of wisdom. They all seem to have good and bads and I could realy use some advise on best roofing materials

Certainteed, Elk/Gaf

Don't worry as much about the materials as the quality of the roofing company.

I agree completely with what Dennis said.

The best material, installed incorrectly, will wind up bringing you misery down the road for a long time, giving the product a black-eye, when it is more likely the hack that installed it.

Ventilation and Roofing Manufacturers have related that through their own studies, as many as 90% to 95% of ALL shingle roofs installed, are done so incorrectly.

Find that 1 out of 10 or 1 out of 20 contractor that would rather put on a quality roof, rather than just a fast one.

Agreed,
Tamko, Certainteed, Gaf/Elk and others, are all quality shingles if installed properly.
Check the contractors out with the BBB and ask for proof of insurances, references, etc., and chose on both quality and cost.

Dennis pretty much summed it up. Find a good quality contractor, trust his experience and knowledge, and he will install a qood quality product.
Up here Gaf/Elk then Certainteed. I've never been too fond of Pabco or OC 30 yr

Now quick close the thread before it starts another "oh that one's crap, this one's the best" firestorm!
