Yes: these days - probably have to go with what "OHD" says -
GAF. (for a comparable product)
My "2 cents".

"Back in the day" (a long time ago) -
worked for a roofing contractor -
we carried IKO and OC -
don't know about now -
back then - not much difference -
Installed correctly - no problem.
1000s of roofs.

The owners of Certainteed also own a company that sales Owens Corning & IKO shingles.
So OC & IKO are good enough for the people with first hand knowledge of the make up of the materials.

Saint Gobain also nearly owns everything else as well. For anyone to say that the current line of OC and IKO compare in quality to CertainTeed would be quite an exaggeration, at least in my opinion.

I would say anyone claiming any manufacturer to be superior to all others is quite the exaggeration.

I have and do install shingles manufactured from five different companies, which are GAF, Tamko, Owens Corning, Certainteed, IKO and Atlas and have been doing so for over 30 years now.
I have experienced problems (rarely) and success with each manufacturer.

Gonna have to agree with Sly. Except have had the most mfr problems with OC so have stayed away from them for years. Too many other mfrs to have any reason to use them.
