Roof venting

Im having a new roof installed. The contractor said he will cut in a ridge vent. Is it wise to also have a mushroom exhaust fan installed also or is that overkill.

Roof venting

That will short circuit your convection from soffit to ridge. I would not recommend it. The shingle manufaturers also do not recommend it, some forbid it.
