roof ventilation
I am installing an asphalt roof on a home that was built in the 5o's with no soffits. Home has only gable vents. I would like to add box vents while replacing roof. Does anyone know if they are compatible?

Box vents and gable end vents can work if they are not spaced to close to the end walls.
Do you have an overhang? AirVent has great informational resources on venting. |
Just another idea while you're playing with the venting... You could install a gable vent fan on one of the gables. I did that in a previous house and it helped to expel humid air and hot air. You can get a fan that has a thermostat and a humidostat on it. Once you wire it up it will kick on when it gets hot in the summer or humid in the winter.

Make sure the gable fan is humidstat and thermostat controlled. |
